“NEASC Panel Discussion” – recorded this past Sunday at the HS Gym

“2011 Fall Talent Night” – held by the HS Senior Class at the HS Gym last Friday night

“Panel Discuss: Teen Drug Addiction” – a special program held by Project SEARCH last Wednesday (Nov 2nd) at the University of New Hampshire.

These programs should begin running soon, look for them in the afternoon hours playing after the regular 2pm meeting replay timeslot (Mon – Thurs between 4p to 7p) and other days where we have open slots for locally produced programming.

The first amendment is to change the adoption of the Town budget and election  town officers from May to March.  The second amendment seeks to change the passage of a bond warrant article from 2/3 to 3/5 majority.

AMENDMENT ONE TO THE NEWMARKET TOWN CHARTER  changes the date for elections and voting by official ballot from the
second Tuesday in May to the second Tuesday in March, in order to consolidate the dates for the annual meeting of the Town and the Newmarket School District.  This amendment changes related dates in order to hold elections and
voting by official ballot on the second Tuesday in March.   For example, the first session of the Town’s Annual Meeting will be held on a date between the second Tuesday and the Saturday following the second Tuesday in February, as determined by the Town Council.

No substantive changes to the Town Charter will occur as a result of this amendment.   This amendment will become effective upon its passage for the purposes of the Town’s Annual Meeting in 2012.

AMENDMENT TWO TO THE NEWMARKET TOWN CHARTER clarifies the voting requirements for the issue of notes or bonds to be a majority of 3/5^ths (60%) of the votes cast.  In 1999, the Legislature amended RSA 33:8 to provide for the issue of bonds or notes by a  majority of 3/5^ths in Towns that had  adopted
official ballot voting.  However, in 2004 the Legislature amended the law to provide that if the Town Charter did not specify, the required vote would be 2/3^rds majority (66%).  This amendment specifies that a 3/5^ths majority is  required as provided by RSA 33:8.

This amendment will become effective upon its passage for the purposes of the Town’s Annual Meeting in 2012.
